The Artful Soiree Series
Williamsburg Contemporary Art Center introduced The Artful Soiree Series in 2015 which is a series of privately hosted events to support the organization. Over the years, several generous hosts opened their homes to paying guests who enjoyed delightful surroundings, creative food and drinks, and interesting activities. All proceeds from these events supported WCAC and its education and outreach programs. We are currently planning our events for 2020 – if you are interested in either hosting and event, or helping in other ways, please contact Janis Wood, President, at 757-220-2217 or jleewoodart21@msn.com.
Thank you to our generous hosts for holding these events!:
- Back to the 50s: Todd and Leslie Skinner hosted the inaugural Artful Soiree, a groovy retro event featuring décor, food, music, drinks and special attire from the period. This event raised $3,000 – what a great way to kick off the Artful Soiree Series!
- Wine for all Palates: Steve and Jean Kennedy hosted the 2nd Artful Soiree in their Party Barn adjacent to their home. Wine pairings and lecture, fabulous food, amazing architecture, and tantalizing gardens helped raise more than $2,300!
- Everything is Bigger in Texas: John and Ann Beard hosted an authentic Texas barbeque in their lovely home for this Texas themed Artful Soiree. John’s barbeque and Ann’s fixins, along with great drinks and special decorative touches raised $4,100!
- The Tantalizing Trio: Williamsburg Landing helped set the holiday mood with their sumptuous heavy hors d’oeuvres paired with a variety of wines, and Williamsburg Chocolatier spoiled us with their chocolates – this event raised $1,250 for the Art Center!
- April in Paris: The WCAC Board hosted this Artful Soiree at John and Ann Beard’s home. Guests were spoiled with a variety of French inspired foods and desserts, and they quenched their thirsts with special French wines. The event raised $3,075 for the Art Center that year.
- The Treasure Hunt – Part I: Charles Driscoll hosted an Artful Soiree in his lovely art filled home. Guests were led on a treasure hunt that evening to find specific artifacts. They were also well fed and served lovely wines throughout the evening – the event raised $2,775 for the Art Center!
- The Treasure Hunt – Part II: Charles Driscoll again hosted an Artful Soiree in his home for those guests who could not make it to the event the year before. Again, guests were taken on a treasure hunt for more artifacts and served wonderful food and lovely wines throughout the evening. That event raised $2,475 for the Art Center!
