2020 – Untold Stories – An African American Perspective

In 2019, WCAC and Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation partnered to bring renowned African American artist Titus Kaphar’s sculpture to the Forgotten Soldier Exhibition at the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown through March 2020.

In connection with that effort, Willliamsburg Contemporary Art Center presented “Untold Stories ~ An African American Perspective” to promote cultural understanding of African American history in Central and Greater Hampton Roads Virginia. Our featured artists tell their own Virginia Stories – past, present, personal, or handed down – through their unique artwork.  Thank you to York County Arts Commission for helping underwrite this show.

Since we had to close the Untold Stories show early due to the Governor’s order requiring us to practice social distancing during the Covid-19 pandemic, we decided to offer it as a Virtual Show for those who missed it in February-March when the art center was still open.
